More and more patients ask their dentists about white fillings (composite or porcelains) because they want their teeth to look natural when they laugh, talk and smile.  In the past, teeth were filled with amalgam (a mixture of different metals) which essentially just fills a hole and requires retention features to hold the filling in place.  Nowadays, with the advances in modern dental materials and techniques, composite restorations can restore the tooth back to near its original physical integrity.  Composite fillings mimic the appearance of natural teeth, require less of the healthy part of a tooth to be removed due to composite materials’ ability to bond to teeth adhesively, and it contains no mercury.  However, unlike amalgam, composite fillings are very technique-sensitive.  They are best done by a cosmetic dentist.

Gingivectomy, a Cosmetic Procedure to Enhance Your Smile.

Patients who have excessive gum tissue (gummy smile) can have teeth with a shortened appearance.  Having excessive gum tissue can sometimes cause a person to feel very self-conscious. Excessive gum tissue can be enhanced by using a cosmetic procedure call gingivectomy.  This procedure reshapes the gums to provide a more pleasing smile. It is performed in our office using a soft tissue laser with very little discomfort to the patient and the recovery time is minimal.  In some cases, we don’t have to use a needle, just a topical numbing gel.  Your new smile will look beautiful and better that you ever thought possible!

Minh Vithayapun, RDH, Joins Vo Dentistry

Minh Vithayapun, RDH, an award-winning dental hygienist, has joined Vo Dentistry at 1605 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30043

Minh brings with her not only her excellent skills as a clinician but also her tremendous knowledge in dental field.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at Clayton State University.  She has been in the dental field for over seven years. She received the Hinman Scholar plaque for outstanding academic and clinical performance while in school. She also received the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler by having the highest cumulative GPA in her class. She is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Georgia Dental Hygienist Association.  She speaks English and Vietnamese fluently.

She married her high school sweetheart and currently resides in Snellville.  On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her 2 dogs.
